Documents, Drafts, and Pending Matters
- Marital settlement agreements, before you sign or after a draft arrives from the other side
- Proposed custody orders, parenting plans, and support calculations
- Pleadings, motions, and briefs you have received or plan to file
- A pending or anticipated matter, evaluated for its risks and the likely range of outcomes
What the Document Does Before You Are Bound by It
Family law agreements are hard to undo. A provision that reads harmlessly can cost a great deal over the years it governs, and a draft from the other side was written to serve the other side. An independent reading from a lawyer with no stake in the negotiation shows you what the document does before you are bound by it.
People already represented sometimes want a second view as well. A case evaluation can confirm the course their counsel has set or raise questions worth asking before a hearing or a signing.
A Paid Strategy Session by Phone
Each review is a paid Strategy Session, conducted by phone. Once the session is scheduled and paid, you send the documents, and where it makes the session more productive, we read them in advance. The session itself is your analysis: what the document does, and what we would change or ask before proceeding.
A session is a consultation. It does not retain the firm or enter an appearance in your case, and you remain free to act on the analysis with counsel of your choice. Where our review turns on the local practice of another county, we say so and point you to what counsel there should confirm.
